Facts we check because they are often repeated wrongly
This is the first published release, so there are no earlier published versions to correct. These are claims that circulate elsewhere and that this site deliberately does not repeat.
| Claim often repeated | What the sources say | Basis |
|---|---|---|
| The Falls Incline Railway goes to the boat dock | It does not. It links Fallsview and Table Rock Centre. Niagara City Cruises has its own funicular, whose current status is unconfirmed. | Niagara Parks Falls Incline Railway page; operator pages |
| The Adventure Pass is the 2026 pass | The Niagara Falls Pass replaced the Adventure Pass name in 2026. No tier includes a boat tour. | Niagara Parks Falls Pass page |
| Hornblower won the contract in 2013 or 2014 | The contract was awarded in February 2012. Maid of the Mist's Canadian service ended in late October 2013, and Hornblower opened on May 15, 2014. | CP24, Soundings, City Experiences blog |
| Maid of the Mist VII and VIII | The electric boats are James V. Glynn and Nikola Tesla. | Maid of the Mist 2026 press release |
| Canadian boats go into the mist at night | Before sunset they enter the heart of the Horseshoe Falls. After sunset they go only to the outer edge, with light mist. | Niagara City Cruises ticket page |
| A single child price for Canada | Two conflicting child fares are shown, with their sources. | Niagara Parks and Niagara Falls Tourism |
| Poncho colours | The operators do not state colours, so we omit them. | Operator FAQs |
| Detailed accounts of the 1861 rapids run | Only sourced facts are kept; destination and initial are shown as disputed. | Company history, Brock University exhibit |
Changelog policy
- Every change to a price, season date, hour, fee or rule gets an entry with the date, the page, the old value, the new value and the source.
- Corrections to published pages are logged the same way.
- Dates in the future are never published as facts. We add 2027 season dates only after an operator publishes them.
- Entries are never deleted. If we reverse a change, we log that too.
Changes we expect to log
Maid of the Mist's 2026 season is scheduled to end on November 8, 2026, and we will log its 2027 dates once published. We will do the same for Niagara City Cruises' closing date, the Winter Festival of Lights dates for 2026-27 (not yet announced by Niagara Parks), and the 2027 fireworks schedule. See the methodology for how we verify, or report an error through the contact page.
